The committee wrote Pearson a seven-page letter, had it delivered to him by 3:30 p.m., and requested that he leave the office by 5:00 p.m.
According to a source, Pearson's lawsuit had little to do with the committee's final decision. Instead, the committee "reviewed Pearson's judicial decisions and audiotapes of proceedings over which he had presided and found he did not demonstrate 'appropriate judgment and judicial temperament," says the
Washington Post.
Pearson was also known to be "combative" with colleagues and supervisors and to disregard certain policies when "drafting opinions."
He lost the $54 million lawsuit against Custom Cleaners when a DC Superior Court judge ruled in favor of the owners, Soo Chung and her family.
