The police found that out, all right! McFarren's girlfriend was stuck to the toilet — and McFarren said she hadn't come out of the bathroom in two years. Two Years! According to the police, her skin had literally grown around the toilet seat. The cops had to take a crowbar to the seat to disconnect it from the toilet, so that the woman could be taken to the hospital, where the seat was then removed from her surgically.
According to police, Mr. McFarren told them that the woman had a phobia about leaving the restroom, and whenever he would ask her to come out, she would reply, "Maybe tomorrow."
The officer in charge of the case, Sheriff Bryan Whipple, is now recommending charges against the boyfriend, Mr. McFarren, for mistreatment of a dependant adult.
There's no question the woman was dependant on Mr. McFarren: he brought her food every day, and clothing as well. She apparently wasn't too big to move, though; the sheriff described her as thin and petite.
The hospital says she may have incurred some permanent nerve damage to her legs from an infection, and that she may be forced to use a wheelchair. With the open sores reported by the police, it's no wonder she got an infection.
Tragedy aside, it does appear that the woman might be a natural for one thing: why not sign her up for some document reviews? Anyone who won't leave a room for two years straight and wants food and water brought to her sounds like a partner's dream associate for document review purposes.
