Forbes discusses how many states treat in-state defendants the same as out-of-state ones, while others markedly favor in-state defendants. For instance, New Jersey is home to many pharmaceutical companies, yet the state is a bad place to defend lawsuits for drug companies. Mississippi, on the other hand, favors local defendants much more than those from out of state, although class action suits are particularly profitable there.
