Assault is a crime. Aggravated assault is repeated attempts at the same crime. Usually, when you think of aggravated assault, it involves people being beaten with bats or attacked with other weapons.
But how about assault with a peanut? That's what Robyn Lee of Corryville, Ohio, is alleged to have done. She's been charged with the act and put on bail for $5,000.
It seems that Lee was riding in a car with Shenna Ferguson to the mall, and she started taunting Ferguson about peanuts and tried to shove one in Ferguson's mouth. Turns out Ferguson is very allergic to peanuts, and that therefore qualifies as a deadly attack. Ferguson had informed Lee of her allergy, and it appears that Ferguson went ahead with the attack.
Did Lee show remorse? No, since at the mall she was seen continuing to taunt Ferguson about peanuts and then went out and keyed Ferguson's car.
She sounds like a winner! And don't forget: even an innocent peanut can be deadly. As some commentator noted, however, this seems ripe for a great superhero movie spoof. Imagine the superhero being allergic to peanuts! Serving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich would be a devastating attack…
