According to Brad Dacus of Sacramento-based Pacific Justice Institute, the crowd should ready itself for ''the next battle, the next battle and the next battle, without surrender.''
Religious leaders and politicians were in attendance to show their support for Proposition 8 which supports marriage between a man and woman exclusively. Jim Franklin, a pastor with the Cornerstone Church and an organizer of the event acknowledged that ''we know we've been called hate-mongers. That's not what we are. We are people who believe in our values.''
Ron Prentice of Protect Marriage.org urged the crowd to ''never let down. It's the will of God to protect marriage. . . . We will be victorious because God goes before us.''
For those opposing Proposition 8, plans are underway to plot the next step for same-sex marriage supporters in an effort to overturn the ruling. According to Marc Solomon, marriage director of Equality California, ''It's going to be hard work. Public opinion hasn't changed that much. . . . But people are ready to work together.''
