It is important to keep in mind that the numbers of lay-offs are decreasing very slowly; last week the firm of Wilson, Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati announced the lay-off of 20 staff members. Also, the law firm of Howrey LLP announced that 29 associates and 65 staff members from ten of the firm's U.S. offices were laid off. In April, the firm cut 25
secretarial jobs after the lay off of ten associates at the end of 2008.
On a more positive note, the Hartford Connecticut law firm of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP has made a move to expand their construction practice with the acquisition of three new attorneys. Attorneys
Timothy T. Corey and
Jared Cohane will join the firm as Partners and attorney Peter. J. Martin has come onboard as an associate to the Construction and Public Contracts Law Group. In addition, Priscilla Kimball has joined the firm at its Concord office as Counsel for the firm's Corporate Practice Group.
In Dallas, the law firm of McCurley Orsinger McCurley Nelson & Downing, L.L.P. announced the hiring of two new associates to their
family practice. Lindsay Daye Barbee and Ryan Kirkham will join the firm's Dallas office as associates. The firm specializes in family law and has offices in Dallas and San Antonio.
