This isn't the first time Collins has run into legal problems in the Magnolia State. In late 2010, he was accused of hitting a vehicle and then leaving the scene on the Interstate 55 frontage road. It's believed alcohol was involved, though he was allowed to pay a $500 fine last December to resolve the case, according to his attorney.
Collins is no stranger to driving while under the influence. He was charged in Los Angeles County last year and received probation. After failing to appear at a November 2010 probation progress report, the judge in this case issued an arrest warrant. His lawyer, Tom Royals, had no comment when his client failed to appear, though he did say Collins was expected later in the week back in Mississippi to answer the hit and run charges.
Collins is often in Mississippi as his wife, Mary Anne Mobely, is a native and her family still resides there. He and the 1959 Miss America winner have been married for years. Many have begun questioning why his celebrity status allows him to skirt the law. Two separate events in Mississippi have resulted in a small fine and the arrest warrant in Los Angeles County was rescinded as well.
For now, Collins has the all-clear in the state of Mississippi, though he remains on probation on the west coast.
