Students and alumni have a unique way of registering with the school to stay informed of all career opportunities via the school's Symplicity program. This virtual career counseling office is a model for other law schools and has proven as crucial to the department as the employees themselves. It's a powerful tool that works well for all involved. The students appreciate the sense of knowing they're always ''in the loop'' and the employers and alumni feel better connected to the student body and the law school as a whole.
Other resources law students find include access to various professional development workshops, peer groups, legal career seminars, mock interviews, available judicial clerkships and informational seminars for those showing an interest in those clerkships and even assistance with resumes and cover letters. Clearly, every tool is made available to be sure graduating seniors have all the tools to move forward and do good work in their chosen career specialties.
The mission of the Career Counseling and Development offices is to increase opportunities for students, explore new resources to assist those students while ensuring only the most up to date information is available. Few career services offer such an all inclusive approach.
The Office and Career Counseling Department is located on the Southern University Law Center campus and is open between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. throughout the week; however, the staff accommodates evening and weekend appointments for students.
