For nearly three decades, Dr. Alan Cohen has worked alongside attorneys as they prepare their legal cases. Dr. Alan Cohen received his doctorate in Speech Communication Science from the University of Washington in 1978. He works as a Communications Psychologist and is a member of the American Psychological Association, Psychology - Law Division as well as the American Society of Trial Consultants. Dr. Cohen is also a member of the American Bar Association's Section of Litigation, the ASTC Jury and Trial Research Interest Group, the ABA Tort trial and Insurance Practice Section, the Lawyers Professional, the Washington State Association for Justice and the Litigation Consulting Network.
While he's well rounded in both the legal and medical communities, he thrives in those areas where he can examine human nature, and certainly that nature of humans in a courtroom setting. From the voir dire process where he helps attorneys see what's not being said to assisting witnesses with their communication efforts prior to testifying in a court trial, Dr. Cohen serves as that bridge that helps even the most experienced attorneys understand the often elusive human condition. Dr. Cohen resides in Seattle Washington where he runs his company, Jury Insights. Prior to his becoming involved in this unique sector, he was in private practice for several years. He has played a role in more than 500 cases from civil litigation to death penalty cases. He's worked alongside both the defense teams and the plaintiffs and anyone who's had the pleasure says he plays a significant role in maintaining not only the case in front of him, but the court process as a whole.
When Dr. Cohen's not preparing for psychological insights for a team of lawyers, he says he unwinds by writing and oil painting.
