Babysitter Faces 100 Charges of Child Sex Abuse
A previously convicted sex-offender was indicted on Thursday on more than 100 counts of child sex abuse perpetrated by him in an unlicensed day care business run by his wife. The child victims, all from suburbs of Boston and ranging from between the age of 8 days to 3 ½ years.

The sex abuse occurred between August 2010 and August 2012 at the unlicensed Waterfall Education Center in Wakefield. The charges have been filed based on video evidence seized by the police from the place of occurrence. The accused, John Burbine, has a master's degree in management from Lesley University in Cambridge.

John Burbine is a known Level 1 sex offender in Massachusetts, an outcome following a 1989 conviction for indecent sexual assault and battery. There were also child abuse allegations against him made in 2005 and 2009 that never led to prosecution due to lack of evidence. However, the probe continued and acting upon leads, the investigators issued search warrants for the day care run by the Burbines. And then they got the video evidence.

United States
On Thursday, authorities announced the indictment of Burbine on a 100 counts among which there were at least 40 counts of aggravated forcible rape of a child.

The 49-year-old man used to advertise himself as an experienced baby sitter. Many of the assaults happened in victim's homes. According to the authorities, and evidence seized from a computer, Burbine himself videotaped many incidents of sexually assaulting infants at the business run by his wife.

Heather Johnson, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Early Education and Care stated publicly on Thursday that the Burbines had neither applied for nor received a licence for running the day care business. Authorities are of the opinion that John Burbine's wife was unaware of the acts of her husband.
