Summary: There are many reasons you should become a morning exerciser. Here’s how you can do it.

Becoming a morning exerciser is worth the effort it takes.

Growing up, we always had sports practices after school. Once I got to college, I'd head to the gym in the afternoon, and eventually
Jazzercise classes in the late afternoon. In Chicago I worked with a trainer for a while and always went after school.

Now? Mornings. Always, always mornings! WHY?

  1. Nothing else can get in the way of getting it done. If you do it first thing, nothing can "come up." Unless you have children…
  2. You don't have to work around evening plans or choosing between a social activity or getting in some exercise.
  3. It's a great way to get your blood pumping and your metabolism boosted to give you energy during the day.

Most of you are probably shaking your heads thinking, no way, not me. Now I'm not going to lie, getting up at 5:30 or 6:00am to workout is NOT easy. But I would rather give it an honest try before giving up on it.

Here are my tips to help you become a morning exerciser:

  1. GO TO BED EARLY. Did you hear me? I said, GO TO BED EARLY! Seriously, set an alarm to get in bed if you have to! It makes a world of difference to get a good night's sleep.
  2. Put your alarm clock on the other side of the room. The hardest part about getting up to workout is actually getting out of your bed. If you have to get up to turn off the alarm clock, then you've already won half the battle.
  3. Lay out your workout clothes and gym gear. Now that you're up, you'll see those workout clothes ready to go and you're much less likely to get back in bed.
  4. Move before you can think. Don't even contemplate doing or not doing your workout. Just get up, get dressed, and start moving. You'll be part way into your workout before you even realize what's happening!

GOOD LUCK! Trust me, you'll feel so accomplished afterwards, and it will still be early in the morning! And now you don't have spend the rest of your day worrying about your workout. You're welcome.
