Morrison Foerster is partnering with PracticePro as a member of its new Pre-Law Founding Circle. This program will award a minimum of nine Pre-Law Diversity Scholarships to underrepresented college students and graduates pursuing careers in law. Morrison Foerster is committed to diversity and increasing diversity within the legal talent pipeline. As a member of the Founding Circle, the firm aims to provide guidance and financial support to underrepresented students as they navigate the law school admissions process and prepare for legal careers. Practice is an EdTech social enterprise that offers training, coaching, and scholarships to change how new lawyers learn to practice law and ease their transition into practice. The Founding Circle members have a long history of leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including building PracticePro's other two DEI programs. Along with funding the Pre-Law Diversity Scholarships, the Founding Circle will mentor scholars, identify the additional needs of pre-law students, and design future programs to address those needs. Morrison Foerster has previously partnered with PracticePro on its Law School Mastery for Incoming 1Ls and 1L Diversity Scholar programs and looks forward to connecting with more talent as members of the Pre-Law Founding Circle.
The Pre-Law Diversity Scholarship recipients will benefit from various forms of support, including admissions coaching for developing application strategy, creating personal statements, drafting legal resumes, and negotiating scholarships. They will also receive career coaching that introduces them to the legal industry and legal recruiting frameworks and prepares them for 1L summer legal internship opportunities. Mentorship from the Founding Circle firms and companies will also be provided. In addition, they will receive an LSAT stipend and reimbursement for application fees.
