Job Overview: A law firm in Troy, MI, is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, tax matters, and corporate issues. This role involves advising clients on estate plans drafting legal documents, and requires exceptional communication, organizational, and research skills. Prior connections in the financial community would be advantageous for this position.

Duties:

• Consult with clients to assess and advise on estate plans, including related tax and corporate matters.
• Provide expertise in asset protection, business transfer, succession planning, probate, and estate administration.
• Draft complete and amended estate planning documents using estate planning software. (Wealth Counsel knowledge is helpful but not required).
• Conduct research and analysis related to estate planning and tax issues.
• Prepare legal briefs, documents, and reports with a high standard of writing and documentation.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm to address client needs.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the state of Michigan.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in estate planning and related fields.
• Strong knowledge of estate planning, tax law, and corporate matters.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently.
• Prior background, experience, and/or relationships within the financial community are a plus.

Certifications:

• Active State Bar of Michigan membership and license.
