Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Litigation Insurance Defense Counsel to represent the firm in federal and state courts, managing insurance coverage litigation and providing strategic legal guidance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong legal background, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.

Job Duties:

• Appear on the firm’s behalf in federal and state courts to manage insurance coverage litigation, including motions, trials, and status conferences.
• Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, written discovery, and other legal documents.
• Propose, prepare, and respond to oral and written discovery.
• Guide acceptable legal positions, tactics, potential outcomes, settlements, and awards.
• Complete administrative requirements such as time tracking and closed case reports.
• Analyze conflicts in legal matters and advise clients on solutions.
• Manage caseloads, schedules, and administrative tasks such as billing and record-keeping.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Act as a mentor and coach to less senior attorneys and staff.
• Ensure confidentiality in all legal matters.

Requirements:

• Accredited Law degree.
• 10+ years of experience in a law firm or legal practice.
• Experience handling general liability, professional liability, construction, complex commercial litigation, insurance defense, and medical malpractice.
• Strong legal knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Strong client service orientation.
• Ability to prioritize work.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
