Duties

• Manage litigation cases from inception through trial, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to prepare cases effectively.
• Draft pleadings, discovery documents, and motions in a timely and professional manner.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts, ensuring thorough and effective examination.
• Develop strategies for case resolution, including settlement negotiations and preparing for trial.
• Represent clients in pre-trial hearings, mediations, and in court during trials.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing them with updates and strategic recommendations.
• Participate in the preparation of trial exhibits, witness lists, and other related documents.

Requirements

• 1-5 years of litigation experience, with a focus on civil defense cases.
• Proven ability to handle cases independently, from discovery through trial preparation.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate cases, draft compelling motions and formulate effective strategies.
• Prior experience in medical malpractice, professional liability, labor law, or insurance defense is preferred but not required.
• Must be admitted to practice law in New York State (NYS).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing with the New York State Bar.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on drafting legal documents and presenting in court.
• Strong advocacy and negotiation skills, particularly in deposition and trial settings.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
