Duties:

• Lead and manage civil defense litigation cases, including first-chair courtroom litigation.
• Develop and implement defense strategies, including litigation plans and budgeting.
• Assess exposures, manage case costs, and navigate South Carolina substantive and procedural law and federal procedural rules.
• Conduct thorough research, analysis, and writing to support legal arguments and case development.
• Provide strong oral advocacy in courtroom settings and negotiations.
• Collaborate with clients to ensure satisfaction and build long-term relationships.
• Engage in case evaluation, negotiation, and settlement strategies.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
• Proven experience in leading litigation cases and first-chair courtroom experience.
• In-depth knowledge of South Carolina's substantive and procedural law and familiarity with federal procedural rules.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop litigation strategies.
• Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Demonstrated negotiation and case evaluation abilities.
• Client-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the South Carolina Bar.

Certifications:

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of South Carolina.

Skills:

• Strong litigation management and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
