Bankruptcy Paralegal Job Description

Seeking a Bankruptcy Paralegal with 4+ years of debtor experience. A Registered Paralegal with a degree but are negotiable on these terms desired. Recent Bankruptcy experience is required; preferably Chapter 7 and 13. Must be able to handle all facets of the BK cases including client contact and attorney support.

The candidate should have 5+ years of experience, preferably with Chapter 11 matters. Should be experienced with all overseeing all aspects of electronic discovery. Strong e-filing experience is also required. Strong knowledge of MSOffice, Relativity, Concordance, LAW, Best Case, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.

Bankruptcy / Restructuring Paralegal

The candidate will assist Attorneys representing Debtors, Creditors, and Creditor Committees in large chapter 11 restructuring cases in a team environment. Assist in analyzing due diligence materials regarding all aspects of a company's business operations. Assist with the preparation and filing of petitions, resolutions, first day pleadings; draft; cite check, research and update precedent in first and second-day pleadings filed; familiar with local rules of various courts; coordinate with other professionals and client to obtain and analyze due diligence materials in preparation of exhibits and documents to be included as part of the filing material. Correspond with clients, creditors and other interested parties regarding case issues. Collate information and exhibits for motions, applications, notices, memoranda, proofs of claim. Preparation of quarterly fee applications. Assist with the preparation of monthly fee statements; maintain professional fee spreadsheets. Review and edit documents and exhibits, charts and diagrams. Maintain case calendars and working group lists. Work closely with other practice groups and offices on matters related to restructuring cases. Provide training to entry level case assistants. Commitment to work overtime and be available for travel as needed.

The candidate should have college degree. Must have 5+ years experience as a Restructuring / Bankruptcy Legal Assistant. Mid to large size law firm experience, demonstrating a significant level of substantive knowledge and understanding of the practice area. Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, creativity and initiative. Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to interact effectively with staff, attorneys, clients, courts and other professionals required. Demonstrate working knowledge of technology applicable to practice area, including Westlaw, Live Edgar; ability to electronically file documents.
