A law firm in Merced, CA is seeking a motivated and dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. This role is ideal for new Bar passers who are passionate about criminal defense and eager to develop their legal career. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective legal representation to clients facing criminal charges, managing case loads, and contributing to case strategy and preparation. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in criminal defense cases through all phases, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy.
• Draft, review, and file legal documents such as motions, briefs, and pleadings.
• Advise clients on their legal rights, potential defenses, and the implications of criminal charges.
• Negotiate with opposing counsel and prosecutors to achieve favorable settlements or plea deals.
• Advocate for clients in court by presenting evidence, making arguments, and cross-examining witnesses.
• Develop case strategies and identify evidence to support client defenses.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.
• Stay informed about updates in criminal law, statutes, and legal precedents.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals and support staff to ensure efficient case management.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar or pending Bar admission.
• Strong interest in criminal defense and commitment to client advocacy.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to manage a diverse caseload and work in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Bar or pending Bar admission.

Skills:

• Proficient in legal research and writing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
