With over 25 years of experience in the legal profession, Daniel T.A. Cotts, J.D., MAcc, LL.M., has established himself as a skilled Tax Attorney. In 2019, he brought his expertise to Corpus Christi, Texas, to expand his practice and offer his wealth of knowledge in Taxation, IRS Dispute representation & resolution, Estate Planning, Accounting, and Business & Contract Law to the South Texas region.

Born in El Paso and raised in the picturesque landscapes of Southern Utah, Daniel attended the prestigious University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in Salt Lake City. After completing his law degree, he served as a Judicial Clerk for the 5th District Court of Utah for 2 ½ years, honing his skills and gaining valuable insights into the legal system.

Seeking to further specialize in Taxation, Daniel relocated to Texas and earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas. This additional qualification allowed him to delve deeper into the complexities of tax law, making him a formidable force in the field.

Daniel's career took an exciting turn when he served as a Senior Vice-President with the Generation-Skipping Taxation Department at the Northern Trust Co. His expertise and dedication to his craft were further recognized when he joined CCH Taxation Software company as an Editor/Author, contributing to the development of cutting-edge tax software.

After gaining invaluable experience in the corporate world, Daniel decided to establish his own practice in McKinney, Texas, where he successfully served his clients for several years. However, his journey didn't end there. Seeking new opportunities and challenges, he briefly relocated to Phoenix before ultimately returning to his beloved home state of Texas in 2019.

Now, with an additional degree under his belt, a Master's of Accountancy, Daniel has transformed COTTS LAW into a full-service Tax Law Practice. This expansion allows the firm to provide comprehensive services to clients, combining legal expertise with a deep understanding of accounting principles.
