He earned his law degree and certificate of specialization in maritime law from Tulane University Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and found success as a team member and coach of a traveling mock trial team. His comment on vicarious liability in maritime personal injury cases was even published in the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.

After law school, Charles gained valuable experience at a litigation defense firm in New Orleans, where he handled cases involving serious injuries or death occurring on vessels or offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. He also handled a variety of other cases, including automobile and trucking collisions, products liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, and insurance coverage.

In 2014, Charles made the decision to return to his home state of Virginia and joined a firm in Fairfax, where he oversaw more than 220 worker's compensation cases. However, his passion for public service led him to join the Appeals Council with the Social Security Administration's Office of Disability Adjudication and Review in 2016. In this role, Charles gained advanced medical knowledge relevant to personal injury and disability cases, further enhancing his ability to provide exceptional advocacy for his injured clients.

Beyond his professional achievements, Charles Rothermel is a devoted family man. He cherishes spending time with his daughter, who is a uniquely brilliant Asperger's kiddo. Together, they enjoy traveling, outdoor leisure activities, and camping, creating lasting memories outside of the courtroom.
