Overview

Matthew P. Dogan, the father (and grandfather) of the firm, began his career in law at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, where he paid his way through law school by playing the jazz trumpet at the famous Nick's English Pub.

Upon graduation, Matthew began teaching at the Indiana Law School (now the Maurer School of Law) where he served as a professor in real estate law. Eventually, Matthew moved his family north to Gary, IN, where he began practice as Matthew P. Dogan Attorney at Law.

It was there where he met his wife, Louise. Louise worked as the head legal secretary at the law firm for over 45 years. There is a story about Louise, where a judge asked her in open court, how much does your husband pay you? Louise laughed and replied, "Judge, I get all of it."
Thomas Dogan Joins the Firm
The second Dogan was added to the firm when Matthew's son, Thomas, graduated from the Valparaiso University Law School. Thomas actually began his career at Dogan & Dogan long before that when he oversaw the scrubbing of the bathrooms at the law firm.

Thomas quickly expanded the area of practice for the firm and began specializing in large litigation. Thomas has represented many corporations, individuals, non-profit organizations, cities and towns throughout his 35 years of practice.

Thomas has helped recover millions of dollars for injured parties and has been involved in multiple lawsuits where nearly $50 million was in dispute.
