Tressler is a Good Place to Work on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Tressler is a good place to work. Like any job, your experience will depend on the lawyers you work with day-to-day. It just celebrated its 30th anniversary, but has the feel of a start-up, which is a good thing. You don't feel like some nameless cog in a large machine.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Tressler's culture has always been good, even as the firm weathered the legal recession. The people are generally nice, the lawyers are excellent and associates are given real opportunities to grow as professionals. The associate billable target is 1900 (real) and associates are encouraged to participate in non-billable activities and business development. Partnership is achievable if that is your goal. The place has a much younger vibe than it did a couple of years ago. New management has been dynamic in addressing market challenges, including space, staff and shedding lawyers/practices that were dragging them down. The firm appears better positioned for the future. The firm has embraced part-time positions, working remotely and is generally flexible on personal/vacation time. Some recent departures appear to have been a good thing culturally and lateral partner acquisitions/associate hiring is occurring regularly. Partners are very approachable and the firm has been fairly transparent about its position in the marketplace.

What did you not like about this institution?
Technology is average, but improving. Secretarial support can be spotty depending upon who you are assigned. Benefits are pretty standard.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
I would recommend that they keep doing what you're doing. The current Executive Committee is moving us in the right direction and they listen well to feedback from current employees.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Tressler is a great place to work. The firm has been around for 30+ years, and they are modernizing a lot this year with new technology, new marketing, new CFO/COO, new office space, etc. The changes are exciting and show that it is going in the right direction. Good diversity and leadership.

What did you not like about this institution?
I don't really have anything negative to say, it's been a great place to work and our clients are happy.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Everyone is friendly and Tressler is often team-based, so everyone is great to work with and partners are always ready to provide help and guidance.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
My favorite things are the modern and casual atmosphere, which is unique for a high-end law firm, and the friendly family-like atmosphere.
