What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Attorneys are licensed professionals- treat them as such, until they prove otherwise or in need of such tight supervision. You should have confidence and faith in the people that you hire and give them time and space to do their job before you start applying pressure from all directions.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Nothing immediately comes to mind, except perhaps "summer hours" which are nearly impossible to meet the requirements of and maintain eligible status.
What did you not like about this institution?
Micromanaging, constant pressure to meet billable hours, very sophomoric in partners' treatment of associates, no training or personal investment in employees as the overturn is continuous.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
This firm needs to reinvent itself. They need to take on less cases and everyone needs to come together to work on cases so that deadlines are met. The pay should be increased significantly as well.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
The hours were always plentiful and the pay is not too bad for the most part, although it could be better. I made two long term relationships with other attorneys while working at this firm.
What did you not like about this institution?
The work environment is too high pressured. Deadlines need to be met, otherwise expect to be scolded by the ones leading the cases. I did not feel very welcomed while working here either.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
5.Former Employee, more than 1 yearInvested partners, welcoming environment, work-life balanceAssociate Attoney in Chicago, ILRecommendProsOne of the best parts of BVH was having partners who were invested in helping younger attorneys grow professionally. Both partners and older associates took a proactive approach to managing each case and developing strong relationships with clients no matter the size of the case. The environment of the firm is extremely friendly with lots of resources and support and one of the best law firm environments I've worked in so far. They truly strive to encourage work-life balance for their employees and are very understanding of the personal and professional needs of the employee while also providing opportunities for professional and personal growth as an attorney. I viewed many if not all of the partners as mentors and continue to view them as such. Overall a great firm environment.ConsNothing that doesn't come from the normal stresses of any attorney job. BVH does a lot to help mitigate unnecessary or excessive stress in the job compared to other firms.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Disband the firm and start over. Make the employees take severance and lay everyone off. They would more than likely be better off.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Nothing.
What did you not like about this institution?
Everything. The support staff is terrible. The partners are rude and will make you want to quit on the first day. You will quickly find yourself in one of the worst situations of your life by working with this firm. I know I did. Following up with staff often entails being yelled at for no reason or someone snapping. It is the worst place I have ever worked in my life.
People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
All of them, they aren't realistic, they are very rude, they don't care when you catch Covid and still want to work you to death. It's terrible.
